Behold! A New Thing!
"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert”
Isaiah 43:19
The prophet Isaiah portrayed a God who is crafting something new and calls for us to recognize it. Our church is experiencing a time of renewal and newness; it is exciting and unsettling all at once. But, as always, our God is challenging us to see the positive possibilities in newness and to remain unafraid of the discomfort these changes may cause. God is doing a new thing, for example:
Since January, our weekly worship attendance is averaging above 77, with 4 Sundays reaching 80 or above. God is blessing us with new people visiting our community and this is a reminder to us to continue to offer hospitality and openness to all who come seeking a church home, to be part of a community or to find refuge from a chaotic and often frightening world. Consequently, we will be having a New Members Gathering on April 26th in the lounge. If you are interested in knowing more about the church, membership, or baptism, RSVP to me.
Our Board has several new members and they are each passionate about serving the church. I encourage us to give them grace in growing into their roles and encourage them as they serve God in new ways.
And finally, you may have noticed we are experimenting with a new newsletter format and schedule. Instead of a monthly publication, we are testing the distribution of a double issue every other month. This allows for significant efficiency in our use of time and resources. This issue is therefore a March-April issue and the next will be for May and June.
Behold! God is doing new things in our church community!
Let us celebrate the ways God is creating something new for us!
Blessings,
Pastor Krista
